The status and obligations of an employee do not accrue to such a person. On the other hand, a contract employee is an employee bound by the contract conditions for the period of engagement.

If the consultant medical officer is a specialist and visits once or twice a week, then he/she is, in the true sense, a consultant. However, if the medical officer is visiting every day, like a regular employee, and performs duties for a specific period, then they should be treated as a regular employee, including EPF remittance.
