Hello Everyone, I have worked as an HR Generalist for 10 years. Now, my kids are grown up, and I want to join the workforce again, but work from home. Why is it difficult to get a job after a sabbatical?

I am not getting a chance even though the dynamics have changed. Sometimes, I wonder if I will be able to justify my capabilities. I really want to work for myself, as HR is my passion. I am looking forward to positivity and hoping to secure a work-from-home job soon.

Thanks

Enhancing Your HR Career

Make a beginning, maybe small. Your ten years of experience as a generalist in HR is not carrying much weight as you have not become a specialist in any field. Probably, you may join some short-term online courses on subjects like SAP, Data Analytics, Counseling, etc., to enhance your chances.

Why Is It Difficult to Get a Job After a Sabbatical?

Dear Member, have you checked the definition of sabbatical? Is your query consistent with the definition?

It appears that there was a break in your career due to family expansion, and when you wish to restart your career, you are finding difficulty in getting a job. However, taking a break to develop one's education is different from the break taken due to family obligations. The preceding member has suggested you do an advanced course in HR; nevertheless, the important fact is the ability to give accurate references of the terminology associated with the HR field. If there is an inconsistency, then you need to fix this inconsistency first.

All the best!

Thank you for all the insights, sir. I would like to correct myself; it’s a gap of 10 years.

Which certificate course and institute is best for SAP HR?

Exploring options, cost, and growth. As an HR Generalist, which course should I opt for?
