Hi,

I wanted clarification on severance pay in India with a Leading MNC. I was serving the notice period during which our project ended, and a mass release from the project was being initiated. However, no formal/informal communication for releasing me from the project was made during the employment. I had served 40 days of notice, and 50 more days were left for the termination. No discussion was made; suddenly on 15th Jan, my last date was modified to 6:00 in the evening, and my manager informed me that today is your last day. This seems to be unlawful. I contacted the HR for advance salary, and she stated approvals are pending via mail. However, no pay has been rendered in FNF.

Can anyone suggest how I can deal with the situation as the HR is not showing any initiative? Is there employment law for severance pay in India?

Dear Maya, You may find out the labour office of your area and make a formal complaint. Most of the software companies do not muster courage to fave labour officer. Thanks, Dinesh Divekar
