Revised Apprenticeship Rules in India
The apprenticeship rules have been revised by the Government of India via the Apprenticeship (Second Amendment) Rules, 2014, dated 22nd September 2014. The revisions mainly relate to the stipend per month for trade apprentices and are as follows:
• During the first year of training: Seventy percent of the minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
• During the second year of training: Eighty percent of the minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
• During the third and fourth year of training: Ninety percent of the minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
