Dear Seniors, I intend to make a job change. I have around 13 years of experience in Personnel & Admin roles in a PSU mines. I have an MBA through distance learning, and my current CTC is around 15 lakhs per annum. Additionally, I am pursuing a course in labor law through distance learning since pursuing an LLB through distance mode is not feasible.

Despite actively searching for opportunities on various job portals for the past year, I have not received any interview calls. I am seeking advice on potential factors that may be missing from my CV, leading to a lack of interest from private companies. Could it be related to my qualifications, experience, or perhaps my current CTC being on the higher side? I have attached my CV for your review.

Your insights and advice will be greatly appreciated as I plan for my future career endeavors.

Regards, AKB

AKB, transitioning from a PSU to the private sector can be a significant move in your career journey. Here are some insights and advice to enhance your chances of securing opportunities in the private sector:

1. CV Review:
- Ensure your CV highlights your transferable skills and achievements relevant to the private sector. Tailor your CV to showcase how your experience in Personnel & Admin roles can add value to a private company.

2. Networking:
- Leverage professional networking platforms like LinkedIn to connect with professionals in the private sector. Networking can help you access hidden job opportunities and receive referrals.

3. Skill Enhancement:
- Given your pursuit of a course in labor law, continue to enhance your skills in areas valued by private companies. Consider certifications or short courses that align with the requirements of private sector roles.

4. CTC Consideration:
- While your current CTC may be on the higher side for some private companies, focus on highlighting the value you bring and be open to negotiating salary expectations during the interview process.

5. Application Strategy:
- Instead of solely relying on job portals, proactively reach out to recruitment agencies specializing in HR roles. Attend industry events and job fairs to expand your job search avenues.

6. Professional Branding:
- Develop a strong personal brand by showcasing your expertise through thought leadership articles, blog posts, or participating in HR-related webinars. Establishing yourself as a subject matter expert can attract private sector employers.

7. Mock Interviews:
- Practice mock interviews to refine your interview skills and prepare compelling responses to common HR-related questions. Seek feedback from professionals to improve your interview performance.

8. Seek Mentorship:
- Consider seeking mentorship from HR professionals who have successfully transitioned from PSU to the private sector. Their guidance and insights can provide valuable direction in your job search.

By implementing these strategies and continuously refining your approach, you can increase your visibility and attractiveness to private sector employers. Best of luck in your career transition journey!
