Our company, with a staff of 300 employees, is looking to close its Food Mess facility. There are 2 to 3 cooks to whom termination letters need to be issued. Could anyone help me with how to convey this message to the employees? What kind of letter should be given to them, as my boss really doesn't want the company's poor condition to be known by the employees?

Thank you,

Regards,

You have to call the people informally and communicate to them in a gentle manner the management's decision. You can give any convincing reason like high costs, plans for outsourcing, etc. You can also tell them that you can facilitate alternate job opportunities for them elsewhere. Additionally, explain what benefits they would receive after separation.

It seems that you are not located in India. In case there is any provision for obtaining permission or a license from the government to run such activities, is it mandatory? If yes, please convey to your concerned cooks that it is becoming troublesome to run this mess facility, and the company is compelled to close the mess. Issue them a notice accordingly and settle full and final payments without using any tactics to pay them less during settlement. Close the activity.

In this case, I do not think the problem lies with the cooks, but with the beneficiaries who will suddenly have to change their routine.
