Hi, I joined the company in June 2013. I worked there for only 4 months. From October 2013 onwards, I suffered from typhoid fever, and my son also had health issues (severe wheezing). Initially, I requested a 4-day leave on October 9. Later, due to some problems, I did not inform HR.

Three days ago, a registered post from the company was delivered to my permanent address. However, as I am currently in the hospital, I am unable to collect the letter. Consequently, I have decided to resign from my position and sent a resignation letter to HR on October 29. The postman will return the registered post back to the company.

I am uncertain of the company's next steps regarding my situation. I am wondering what actions the company will take and what I can do to obtain relief. According to company policy, I am required to serve a 90-day notice period, and the shift is during late night hours. Due to my health condition, I am unable to work the required 9-hour late-night shifts daily.

Please assist me in resolving this issue. Please note that I do not require a relieving letter from this company as I do not intend to pursue employment in the IT sector in the future.

Thank you,
Raja

First of all, please tell us, on one hand, you are saying that you received a letter from your company regarding absconding, and on the other hand, you are saying that you were unable to collect the letter as you were in the hospital. So, how do you know that it was for absconding? If somebody from your HR informed you about this, then it is a different thing, and you can just forget about it.

As you have mentioned that you have been working there for only the last 4 months, you might be in the probation period. During the probation period, the terms and conditions for leaving the services might be different. So, read your appointment letter carefully and then share it with us.

If you still need to give a 90-day notice period, then there is no substitute. But, as you have mentioned that you don't want any relieving letter from your employer, then you can simply do one thing. Just send your Resignation Letter to them through Registered Post. Specifically mention that you have a health problem and that you are in the hospital, due to which you were not able to send any leave application. You are not comfortable with the late-night shift, and it has also affected your health. Therefore, you want to tender your resignation. Thank you very much. That's it, and forget about the 9 days' salary.
