Voluntary Coverage for EPF

Voluntary coverage is possible in the case of EPF. It is applicable to establishments employing fewer than 20 persons. If you want to apply for voluntary coverage, the employer and the majority of the employees have to give consent letters and submit the requisite documents. Once it is applied and notified, you cannot opt out of the Act at a later date.

You can go for voluntary contribution, but the extra contribution will go to the Provident Fund only. However, Pradheepusha, do not think that one has to gather a majority. Only a single employee of an organization can also go for voluntary contribution. If there are any updates on this subject, please forward me a copy.

Thank you.

The issue HeKarthik has raised pertains to Voluntary Coverage and Voluntary Contribution. For voluntary coverage, the consent of the majority of employees is essential. Regarding voluntary contribution, individuals can contribute by submitting a joint declaration.
