Dear seniors, I have been searching for an HR Generalist job in Bangalore for the past 5 weeks. I have attended a few interviews during this period and would like to share my experiences and the repeated questions with you.
Questions - My Answers:
- What do you mean by HR?
- To start a business, company, or organization, we need 5 important M's: Money, Men, Method, Machinery, Material. HR is one of the crucial factors in any business.
- What do you mean by HRM?
- HRM involves managing HR formalities, from attracting candidates to the company to exit formalities. It includes recruitment, selection, induction, statutory requirements like ESI and PF registration, all kinds of compensation benefits, employee engagements, event management, employee grievances management, and handling employee exit interviews.
- What is ESI?
- ESI stands for Employee Social Security. Employers are responsible for registering every employee with ESI within ten days of joining to avail of its benefits. Employees need to contribute a minimum of 6 months. If an employee earns less than 100/day, they do not need to contribute (1.75%), but the employer must contribute (4.75%). The ceiling for benefits is Rs. 15,000.

- What is PF?
- PF stands for Provident Fund, providing employees with long-term monetary security. The contribution percentages are as follows:
- Employee: 12% - Ac No.1 - EPF
- Employer: 3.67% - Ac No.1 - EPF
- Employer: 8.33% - Ac No.10 - EPS
- Employer: 1.01% - Ac No.2 - Admin charges
- Employer: 0.5% - Ac No.21 - EDLI
- Employer: 0.01% - Ac No.22 - Inspection charges
Employees need to contribute a minimum of 6 months to claim benefits and at least 5 years for loans.
- What is gratuity?
- Gratuity is a monetary benefit for employees with a continuous service record of a minimum of 5 years (4.6 years is rounded up to 5 years). The formula is: (Basic + DA) * 15 Days * No Of Service Years / 26.
- What is a bonus?
- A bonus is a mandatory benefit for employees, amounting to a minimum of 8.33% of the basic salary.
- What is employee relationship management?
- It involves fostering a genuine relationship with employees while ensuring they do not take advantage.
- Difference between recruitment and selection:
- Recruitment: Encouraging candidates to apply for a position.
- Selection: Choosing the right person for the right job.
- Difference between Management and Administration:
- Management: Establishing policies.
- Administration: Implementing policies.
- Best non-monetary benefits:
- Current job offering growth and development in the career.
- Flexible working hours.
- Encouragement for employees to contribute to their work.
- Providing a positive work culture and organizational climate.
- Opportunities for employees to work on their dream projects.
