Hi,
I have been able to launch some of the following initiatives in my organization, so I thought I might as well share them with you so that you could benefit from them as well.
The employees in my company are typically client-facing, which means that most of the time they don't come to the office. At the same time, they also don't get to be a part of the employee initiatives since all the action happens in the office itself. Therefore, if you also face the same issue, you might want to try the following:
First of all, try to ensure that most of the initiatives you take are online. I realized that it really works. People are able to participate much more if it is online since they need not be physically present for participation.
Also, you can use this for creating awareness of the various policies and procedures in your organization. For instance, you could create an online quiz on mediclaim and exit policies for all the employees and calculate how much they actually know about the processes. Accordingly, you might want to take it further by organizing training programs for these or briefing sessions. At least it will give you a head start as to what you should train your employees on!
Others could be motivation and performance-oriented, including Employee of the Month or Employee of the Moment. You could also include applaud cards for the employees. If an employee feels that a peer or colleague went out of his or her way to help, then they can express their gratitude by writing an applaud card which could be put up on the applaud notice board so that all can see and be impressed.
One can really improvise on these initiatives since these are only basic frameworks. Plus, the best part about them is that one does not require heavy investments as they are not expensive initiatives.
Let me know what you think... I really hope this can at least give some ideas to you and can be molded according to the requirements of your organization.
Cheers!

Dear Medha,
If you are carrying this out online, you can also try keeping a list of new joiners' birthdays for the month online as well. It will help employees come together with something as small as a birthday greeting, and they would be able to keep track even while they are traveling.
