Many consultants advise us that we can remit by the 21st without penalty and by the 25th with a penalty. Many suggest that there is no penalty until the 21st. Clarification is needed on the date of remittance.

Grace Period for PF Remittance
Statutorily, it is by the 15th of the following month, but there is a grace period of 5 days as per a very old administrative circular. This grace period should not be considered routine for all the months to come. Therefore, it is advisable to deposit the dues by the 15th of the month. However, one can avail of the 5-day grace period in case of a valid reason, with the condition that the RPFC will consider it as a delay of 6 days if deposited on the 21st.

As per rules:
PF Remittance Guidelines
1) The PF amount must be remitted to SBI by the 15th of every month. If the 15th falls on a weekly off/holiday, pay it by the last working day before the 15th to avoid any penalty/explanation. The grace period is given only in case of a genuine reason to the satisfaction of PF authorities but cannot be availed on all occasions.
2) Form 2 Submission
Form 2 (new joinee intimation) must be sent to the EPF office by the 15th of the next month. For instance, if someone joined in January, you have to inform the EPF authorities by the 15th of February.
3) PF Return Remittance Receipt
The PF return remittance receipt received from the bank (bank challan) must be sent to EPF authorities at the latest by the 25th of every month.
Hope I could give a little insight into your query.
