Dear All, First of all, sorry for not contributing to the forum for a long time. Actually, I changed my organization and was very busy with the new one. Now, I would like to request you all to please help me and let me know about the Safety for LPG Manifold. If somebody has IS 6044, which has two parts, Part-1 and Part-2, please share. I'll be indebted. I checked the earlier threads on the forum but could not get proper information. Please help me, it's urgent.

Dear Inderjeet Sir, we faced a lot of trouble while the LPG manifold work was in progress in our industry as I have no previous experience in the subject of LPG manifold safety. I searched and gathered a lot of information in terms of legal as well as safety requirements for LPG manifold. The relevant IS code for LPG manifold is available with me, which I can forward to you in the evening as it is on my personal PC at home. Please provide me with your email ID.
Safety Aspects to Consider:
- LPG manifold construction should be carried out only by an authorized vendor approved by the government gas company from which you obtain LPG cylinders (IOCL/HPCL/BP). You can contact your local gas company office for this.
- An emergency shut-off valve should be readily available outside the kitchen, easily accessible in any emergency.
- The construction of the LPG manifold room should include concrete/fire walls with bottom ventilation, a door opening to the outside, and flame-proof electrical fittings.
- A soap leak test should be performed by an authorized vendor in the presence of a local gas authority officer before charging.
- The periphery of the LPG manifold drain should not be accessible.
- A caution board displaying hazchem code, emergency contact numbers of local gas authorities, fire brigade, etc., should be prominently displayed.
- Fire extinguishers should be placed near the LPG manifold, along with fire buckets.
- Regular training sessions for users are essential.
I hope the information and documents I send you in the evening will be useful to you.
