Dear All, just go through the following link regarding the explosion in Domestic LPG causing one fatality. Also see the attached same news on TOI dated 27.12.2010.

One dead, two critical after cylinder explosion - The Times of India

The reason behind the same, as per the report, is the leaky pipe connected to the LPG cylinder. One doubt arises in my mind after going through the news... Why did the fire not get cut off from reaching into the cylinder? Is there any arrangement like NRV or Flashback Arrestor in the Regulator of domestic LPG Cylinders? If not, what is the best option we can opt for safety in domestic LPG cylinders?

This can happen in any of our homes... So please share what is the best we can do to avoid any such incidents in our day-to-day life.

Dear Dipil, Thanks for your news. Nowadays, we are getting NRV/flashback arrester regulators from gas agencies, which I have been using in my hotel. I do not know the exact technical name, but I am sure NRV/flashback arrester regulators are available at gas agencies. Please check with the nearest authorized domestic gas agency dealer.

Thanks and be safe.

Dear Dipil,

It is best to separate the gas cylinder from the place/point of usage. This can best be done at the time of construction of your building. It then becomes like piped gas. Of course, it is also appropriate to use gadgets to cut off the flow of gas in case of leakage. This information may please be obtained from your LPG dealer.

Good luck.

Dear Dipil,

A device that can solve this problem is known as a Gas Safety Device. I have been using this device for a few days now and have experienced 100 percent satisfaction. It is a high-tech product certified by ISO 9001-2008 company, CE Mark BCSi, tested by ARAI with product liability insurance. It is truly the best for my home as it saves us from gas LPG explosions and conserves gas.

Thank you.
