Gulzarilal Nanda (July 4, 1898 - January 15, 1998) was the Prime Minister of India twice for short periods: once after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964 and again in 1966 after Lal Bahadur Shastri's death. On both occasions, his tenure lasted less than a month, with his term ending upon the election of a new leader by the Indian National Congress, the ruling political party.

He never owned his own house, making him the only prime minister who did not own a house. It is said that he was evicted from his rented house as he could not pay the rent.

Many may not know that Mr. Nanda served as our Prime Minister on two occasions in an acting capacity.

I am attaching a stamp issued in his memory.

Dear Bagema,

I saw your post today. It's a nice posting. I was aware that he became the Prime Minister of India for a very short tenure but was not aware of his life story. Thanks for providing a brief of his honest life, which is now rare to find in Indian leaders.

Thank you.
