Joint Parliamentary Committee is one type of ad hoc Parliamentary Committees constituted by the Indian Parliament. Mandated to inquire into a specific subject, a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) is constituted either through a motion adopted by one House and concurred by the other, or through communication between the presiding officers of the two Houses. The members are either elected by the Houses or nominated by the presiding officers. As in the case of other parliamentary committees, they are drawn from different groups. The strength of a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) may vary. The Lok Sabha share is double than that of the Rajya Sabha.

JPC Probe is an investigation, especially by a legislative committee, of suspected illegal activity. It has no judicial powers and cannot penalize or charge sheet anyone.
The Supreme Court is the supreme judicial power in India and is final and binding on the convicts.

Demand for a JPC is raised by the opposition, which the ruling party willingly or unwillingly may agree. It is tried to accommodate MPs from all major political parties usually in the ratio of their strength in the house. Naturally, the persons who become a part of the committee become important, if they are not already so.
The committee examines in detail the documentary evidence, the persons involved. They can call the concerned officers, ministers, etc., to ascertain the facts. The committee usually is given a time frame which may be extended if required. In the end, the committee tables its report and recommendations in the parliament for discussion and subsequent action to be taken.

In the history of the Indian Parliament, whenever demands to announce a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) probe have arisen from the Opposition, the governments of the day have often raised reservations, leading to standstills in Parliament for consecutive days. It is learned that on one occasion when the formation of a JPC couldn't harm either side, the ruling party's image on completion of the probe would be negatively affected. The ruling elite remains adamant, often resulting in the adjournment of the session sine die. In such situations, the intensity of demands from the united opposition weakens gradually, often ending in a whimper.
Meanwhile, if another issue arises, the opposition quickly shifts focus, forgetting the previous significant matter and its potential to put the government in a catch-22 situation. The government can then breathe a sigh of relief momentarily.
All issues, old or new, are considered important in our country, as those involved in them are also significant players.

Please, can anyone help with the calculation of gratuity? Is it based on the formula: (basic/26)*15 days*number of working years (5 years 11 months)? Do we consider only 5 years or should we include the additional 11 months? Also, which basic salary should be used for the calculation?
