Redefining Leave Policy for a Multimedia Company
Our company is a multimedia company with 50 employees, and we would like to redefine our leave policy. Could anybody suggest the leave policies followed in corporates, briefing about various types of leaves? Also, what leaves can be availed during the probation period, and how many leaves can be given to employees during the probation period?

Your organization is covered under the Shops and Establishments Act and follows the leave rules under the act or follows the new trend in the industry.
Current Trends in IT Industry Leave Policies
The present trend in the IT industry is a basket of leaves (BL) credited to all full-time employees, including permanent, temporary, and probationers. BL means there would be only one type of leave, which you may call annual leave. To compute the leaves, it depends on the number of actual days the company is scheduled to work in a calendar year, divided by 10 days, and credit leave days on completion of each quarter in the following quarter. If someone joins in the middle of a quarter, he or she would be credited proportionately.
Educational Leave
You may have education leave to encourage employees to enhance academic qualifications, which is useful to the company's business.
