Hi all,
I am new to this forum. Can anyone help me define the different types of leaves? As we all discuss casual leaves, earned leaves, etc., I am working in a software company that is only six months old. There is no leave policy in our company. As an HR professional, I am planning to implement one. But before that, I must be clear about the different types of leaves and how I can implement a leave policy in our company.
I am waiting for responses from all seniors and friends.

Hi Neerja,
These are the details about the various kinds of leaves:
C.L - Casual Leave
P.L - Privilege Leave (Most companies have either EL or PL)
E.L - Earned Leave
S.L - Sick Leave
Maternity Leave
The leave policy can be designed keeping in mind the regulations as per the law; everything else is up to the company. It is important to consider the procedure for applying for leaves. Do mention the number of leaves per annum, for example, C.L should be a minimum of 7, etc.
I would suggest that you design your own policy, and then we can all review it. For new employees, typically, the P.L starts after completion of one year of service. I hope you will design your policy, and I assure you that we all support you.
Cheers,
Archna
