Dear All, What is the procedure of obtaining contract labour single license across India under Contract labour Act (central).

Though the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act is a central Act, the appropriate authorities under the Act are either the State or the central government, depending upon the nature of the industry. Therefore, in respect of establishments whose appropriate authority for the purpose of settlement of disputes under the Industrial Disputes Act is the central government, the central government is also the appropriate authority under the CLRA Act. On the other hand, if it is the state government for the ID Act, then the state will be the authority under the CLRA Act as well.

Registering authorities are also appointed by the appropriate authorities, and their jurisdiction will be as notified. Since it is always state-specific, one registration or license covering all states is not possible. You have to obtain different licenses for engaging contract labor at different locations.
