Performance Appraisal is a tool to assess an employee's performance in job behavior with standard work expectations according to job and role analysis. Performance Management involves managing the overall performance of an employee for present as well as future requirements. Every worker has past experience, knowledge levels, and present skill levels, which aid in acquiring knowledge for future jobs and shaping the right attitude towards future job goals. Performance management helps individuals sharpen their present skills and knowledge levels, as well as acquire future potential through human development.

Performance Management System (PMS) and Performance Appraisal (PA)
Performance Management System (PMS) is far-reaching. It is a major Organizational Development (OD) intervention that focuses on measuring business performance. PMS forms the basis for the organization's recruitment policies, training interventions, employee promotions, and annual increments.
Performance Appraisal (PA)
Performance Appraisal (PA) is a subset of PMS, concentrating on measuring individual performance. PA scores assist organizations in directing their employee development efforts.
