Dear Seniors, Your suggestion is required. I worked in a company for 10 months. From the very first month, there was a PF deduction of Rs. 600, which is shown in all my salary slips. According to the accounting department, they had my PF number, but I never filled out any forms. Due to some personal family problems, I left the organization.
Query on PF and FPF Claims
My query is, can I claim the PF for these 10 months? Or should I claim for FPF for 10 months, which amounts to Rs. 6000? Your guidance is required.
Thanks & Regards,

As per general understanding, your basic salary was 5000, so your contribution was 600. The other assumption is that you joined on the 1st day of the month, and there was no loss of pay during your tenure in the organization, so your ten-month contribution will be 6000.
Also, please note that you never have to fill out any forms to get a PF number. PF forms are filled out for nomination purposes.
You are requested to get in touch with your previous employer for the withdrawal of the PF, wherein your employer also contributed the same amount as your contribution.
Should you need any further clarification, please feel free to reach out.

You can claim the PF by filling up the withdrawal form, i.e., Form No. 19 & 10-C. Please get in touch with your previous employer for the withdrawal of the PF. Feel free to get back.

Please fill out Form 19 and Form 10C. Ensure that you do not provide any incorrect information. Kindly omit the Date of Joining and Date of Leaving. You are eligible for Form 10C due to 10 months of service, as far as I know. Along with Form 19 and Form 10C, please submit the account number, a cancelled cheque, and one proof of address.

Thanks a lot, Saurav & Pankaj,
Yes, my basic was 5000. I had taken a few leaves during my probation period as LWP. I forgot to mention that deductions for leaves were made on the gross salary. Suppose I had taken 1 day leave, then it was calculated like this: 16000/31 - 1 day's leave (Rs. 516). 16000 - 516 = 15484. Based on this, the rest amount Basic + HRA + Conveyance was divided. Yes, of course, then the basic and all other figures were less than actual. For example, the basic instead of 5000 would be Rs. 4765.
Please let me know if that was correct. Do you mean loss of pay by this leave deduction? Should I calculate PF deduction according to the payslip they have issued after leave deduction?
Please relieve me of this confusion.

Please note that PF is calculated based on the earned basic salary. Therefore, if there is any loss of pay during your probation in the organization, all components of your salary structure will proportionally decrease, including the basic salary. Consequently, when your basic salary decreases due to a loss of pay, your contribution towards PF will also be less.
If you require any further clarification, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you.

Interest will be calculated on the running period, and after resigning, interest will not be calculated as per my knowledge at 9.5%. They will calculate it on the running period. On average, you will be getting $13,000 for 10 months.

PF Calculation on Earned Basic
PF will be calculated on earned basic. Suppose in a particular month, if you have LOP and your basic is deducted, then you should consider the deducted basic * 12%.
In some companies, the DA component, i.e., dearness allowance, exists. In such cases, (basic + DA) * 12% = PF contribution.
Example: Basic 5000, 12% on basic = 600 (here you worked for a complete 31 or 30 days in a month). For ten months, if you don't have any LOP, then 600 * 10 = 6000. Then the total amount, i.e., 6000 * 9.5% = 6000 + 570 = 6570.
