Hi,

I am eligible for Rs. 15,000 per annum medical reimbursement. I have submitted bills, but the company has paid me Rs. 1250 for the number of months lapsed this year and will pay the rest at Rs. 1250 per month. Since the amount stated is Rs. 15,000 per annum on the salary breakup provided to me, shouldn't I receive the full amount when I claim in the middle of the year?

Please advise.

It depends on the company policy and differs from company to company. Normally, at the end of the year, they will pay the entire amount on submission of bills. Otherwise, they will deduct the IT amount in the absence of bills and pay. In some companies, they will pay Rs. 1250/- every month. At the end of the year, if the employee submits the bills, they will accept; otherwise, they will deduct the IT amount from the salary.

They might have experienced difficulty in recovering from some employees who may have claimed the entire amount in one shot and then resigned. Hence, they may be paying Rs. 1250/- per month. Till you receive your amount, it is okay. Otherwise, you can claim upon completion of the year so that you can receive the entire amount in one shot.

Dear Kamesh,

As you mentioned that companies provide ₹1250 per month as medical reimbursement, my situation is the same. So, my question is, what will be the percentage of IT deduction for medical reimbursement? Is it compulsory to produce bills to save on IT?

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Friend,

If you come under the IT bracket, then it is compulsory for you to submit bills. If not, IT shall be deducted as per the applicable percentage, and the maximum will be 30%. You have to find out your percentage based on your earnings.
