Hello All, I have 6 years of experience in HRD in Kolkata. I am willing to pursue a PhD. I have searched for similar topics to identify institutes that offer PhD programs, but I am thoroughly confused. I believe NET qualification will not be needed if I pursue it through an open university. I considered doing it from IGNOU and even visited IGNOU's office, but I did not receive any adequate replies.
Please advise.

Dear All, I came across an article where it is mentioned UGC has barred open universities including IGNOU from conduction research programmes. Then how to do PhD and work at the same time?

It's very good that you want to get enrolled in a Ph.D. I am a research scholar pursuing a Ph.D. at a central university. You need to take the entrance exam for the Ph.D. program at the university. Entrance exams are now compulsory for all students. If you pass the exam, you are eligible for research, and the university will assign a guide to you. If you get enrolled, then show the NOC, and you can continue your job while pursuing your Ph.D. Alternatively, you have the option of pursuing a Ph.D. from deemed universities or autonomous universities. They usually cost around 1.5 lakh and provide you with a Ph.D. degree.
If you need more assistance, feel free to ask.

You have mentioned that deemed or autonomous universities will charge 1.5 lakhs and award a Ph.D. Will that be like buying a degree? What if one wants to pursue a Ph.D. to gain in-depth knowledge?
Thank you.

It's not like buying a degree; it's just that if you are working, you can do your research from home as well by coordinating with your guide. Because if someone is in job life, he or she will not be able to attend the daily classes for research or survey work involved in a Ph.D. He can use this mode of Ph.D. It's costly, but you get a good amount of favors from the university. Everything will be pre-informed, so you can smoothly obtain the degree while pursuing your current job.
