Hi,

The Head of HR in my company does not treat me well. She never misses a chance to comment on me. Once, I asked her if there was any issue, and she told me that she would discuss it offline. Later, she mentioned that there was no issue and it was just a joke.

What should I do? Should I ask her again?

I discussed the same thing with one of my seniors in the company, and she suggested that I will hardly have any interaction with HR, so I should forget about it. Hi Ramkishore,

All these I discussed with my senior who has been with the company for the last 6 years. She did not threaten me; she just gave me her advice on the matter. My senior told me that if I discuss things, they may get worse. My senior also suggested that I will have hardly any interaction with the head of HR. Furthermore, my senior suggested that if the same thing happens in the future, then I am supposed to talk to HR.

If you give us some more details, we would be able to help you. You have raised a query and suddenly you don't want to discuss it with us. We understand that your HR Head is commenting on you. What kind of comments is she passing on you? Is it really related to work or anything else? Or do you feel that she is criticizing you regularly? If yes, then you need to identify whether it is positive criticism or negative criticism. If you still feel you don't want to discuss this, it's okay.

Hi,

Thank you all for your suggestions, but my senior in the company advised me to just wait and watch. If you encounter the same concern with HR, then you need to discuss it; otherwise, just ignore HR as I am not part of the HR team and will have very little interaction with her. The Head of HR did not mention any professional issues to me; that is why I am not considering discussing it with her.

Please don't ignore. Go patiently with a positive attitude and talk to the Head of HR. We can achieve anything in this world with a positive approach. Discuss with her about yourself, try to be friendly with her. In case she advises you about your behavior or work, try to correct it (if it is positive). Since you are at the start of your career, it is a learning phase for you. Don't discuss this issue with other colleagues or other managers/employees; try to resolve it yourself by discussing it with your Head of HR.

Most of us would have come across this situation in our careers. Don't lose confidence. All the best!

Hi Yash,

One thing I would like to point out now that you have started working is that until you give importance to something, nothing can harm you. In my understanding, you should continue with your work. If people try to interfere once or twice, it's fine. However, if it persists, address the issue directly with the person, regardless of their position. If they do not respect their own position, they cannot expect others to respect it either. Respecting someone is different, but never work in fear. Remember, you are only answerable to yourself.
