Dear Mr. Shri,

In case of any accident resulting in the death of any person or resulting in such bodily injury to any person as is likely to cause their death, the Factory Manager shall send a notice by telephone or special messenger within 12 hours and a verbal and written report within 24 hours in the prescribed form (as per applicable state factories rules) to:

- Inspector and the Chief Inspector
- The District Magistrate or Sub Divisional Officer
- The officer in charge of the nearest Police Station
- The relatives of the injured as notified by them in their personnel file.

The Safety Professional's Role

Support and advise the line manager with incident investigation, including classification and providing medical assistance.

Assist the management in ensuring legal compliance and report incidents to regulatory authorities.

In reality, in 90% of Indian industries and the construction sector today, if a fatal accident occurs, a safety professional is supposed to start their job from shifting the body from the site until reaching the relatives. They face hurdles in between and are the ones who suffer the most. They coordinate for post-mortem, deal with the police and hospital personnel, the public, arrange transportation, etc.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to ask. Surely, any forum member will be willing to help you.
