Well, some companies do give stipends and some don't. The maximum I have seen IT companies pay interns is Rs. 5k, and this is at the highest end companies. On average, good companies pay Rs. 3.5k. But it's important that you ask them if they are willing to pay. At times, you don't get a stipend until you ask for it.
