My question is, if the service experience letter is issued by the organization/employer on account of termination of the employee rather than issuing the relieving letter, will this be accepted by the new employer?
In one case, the Service Experience letter contained the following wording:
"This is to certify that Mr. XYZ was working with this organization as a [Name of the post held] from [start date] to [end date]. However, his position was [Name of the post held] when leaving the bank. We wish him the best success for his future endeavors."

Can anybody clarify this? One of my friends could not secure a job opportunity with another organization solely due to the unavailability of the relieving letter, despite having a very sound track record in terms of business conducted in the organization.

If I have understood your query correctly, the reply is that most organizations issue both a relieving letter and an experience letter to employees leaving the services upon the clearance of the notice period, handover, and other company-specific exit formalities. However, I have also observed that few companies issue a combined HR relieving cum experience letter as well.
A relieving letter is important as it signifies that there are no pending matters with the departing staff and that all exit formalities have been completed.
