HR Generalist is involved in the overall management of the HR Department, including joining formalities, induction, performance management, and welfare management. It is a vast area. In contrast, HR recruitment is limited to the recruitment process.
So, if a person has experience in recruitment, it may be a bit challenging to transition into an HR generalist profile, but it is not impossible. Everything requires knowledge. Study the aspects that fall under the HR generalist profile and learn the basics. Try to acquire knowledge in those areas. Engage in some projects.
You can start in any company as a trainee, and then the ladder will be in front of you.
All the best.

Hi,
Once you gain experience in recruitment, you can slowly start your initiatives in the generalist domain. For example, after recruitment, you can be involved in joining formalities and induction of the employee. You can start a buddy system in your organization after observing its impact.
Thanks,

Need a job in HR Generalist field.
Hi all,
I have 8 months of experience in the recruitment field, but I am more interested in the HR Generalist field. Kindly suggest how I can transition into the Generalist field. Do I need to pursue any certification courses? If yes, please advise me.
Thanks and Regards,

Dear Rajan,
As I said earlier, do you have any idea or knowledge about Generalist areas? If not, then study the subject. Merely studying will provide you with theoretical knowledge; however, there is a significant difference between theoretical and practical knowledge. Nonetheless, you can seize opportunities by working in HR generalist areas. Apply for positions, even if they are entry-level. Pursuing interviews will lead to growth.
Thank you.
