Hi
Let explain with an illustration. Assume your company has a branch office and there are several sales executives. While most of them are handling retail channels there could be one person handling institutional sales and another handling Large business units only.
Administratively all the people operating from the branch will report to the branch head who is administratively in charge of the branch but functional in charge of retail sales team. However in addition to his sales team he is also administratively in charge of the other sales personnel eg. for leave sanction, reimbursement of expenses, use of office facilitates etc. However the functional reporting of the two institutional sales personnel, could be at head office or regional office where they would report in to their cluster head or divisional head regarding leads, cold calls, orders, targets etc.
Trust the subject has been amply clarified.
Regards
