Dear Sunil,

Good to see your interest in this topic. As normally people don't understand and select such projects. Anyway, it's really a good one...

For training and development, if you have any data for at least 1 year and its trend, then you can go for Six Sigma application. For example:

1. Training plan vs. actual and its evaluation needs met or not.
2. On-the-job training effectiveness and its compliance (rating %).

So, you can do a lot and only need to define what you want and measure that's it.

Note - Use the DMAIC cycle and be careful in selecting pain areas or areas that need improvement.

Dear Sunil,

To start a Six Sigma program in any process, function, or department, first, you have to check the trends of process metrics related to effectiveness, such as training effectiveness and training feedback from participants. If there is no scope for improvement, then you should check the metrics related to the efficiency of this process, such as training costs.

However, as per my suggestion, you should initiate the Six Sigma project only when a pain area exists in any process. Don't start a Six Sigma project just to showcase the existence of Six Sigma! The most important thing is the buy-in from the process owner.

Hi,

It's good that you are taking the initiative to do a Six Sigma Green Belt project. From my experience, you should always keep one thing in mind, and that is the financial benefit for the company. Six Sigma is a very number-driven methodology that emphasizes customer satisfaction, not just any customer satisfaction, but customer satisfaction with profit. First, try to identify your customer and the customer CTQ. Then we can take it further.
