Hi Cite hrian's, I am a 2009 MBA graduate. I have a doubt - can anybody answer my question? My question is, "Why is there no campus recruitment for HR positions in any company?" or "Why are companies not hiring fresh HR professionals?"

My dear friend. i agree that campus recruitment for HR is very less. But there are opening for freshers in HR. So never give up. Try to keep in touch with your seniors. so that they can help you.

Dear dharshusakthi,

Your statement is incorrect. There are campus recruitments happening for HR stream as well. The main difference is that they tend to prefer top-notch business schools over colleges. For example, this year, Accenture has recruited about 20 people for their HR team through campus placements.

Thank you.

Mahesh,

If all the companies are recruiting from reputable institutions, what about the colleges? Can everyone study in IIPM or business schools? In other colleges, there are also suitable candidates. However, companies never turn to this side. Why this partiality?

Unemployed HR guys can start off as trainer, consultant ... or may build additional skills in IT etc to make their resume attractive.

Mahesh, Corporates are choosing the best students or branded institutions? Best and capable students are in each and every college. Whether thay get the opportunity?

I agree with Jesukumar that talented people are highly available in colleges, but top companies prefer 'B' Schools over universities/colleges. Currently, I am working as an HR Executive in an Engineering Design company. I completed my MBA in 2008. During that time, there were no campus interviews for HR or finance; only marketing openings were available, and many companies turned away candidates.

The main reason is high competition. The current trend shows that many individuals are willing to pursue an MBA and enter HR roles, but there is a lack of proper background for doing so. As a result, there seems to be limited scope for pursuing an MBA now.
