Dear Friends,

I have a query about my PF withdrawal. I worked for 9 months for an organization that has its own private PF trust. Recently, I changed my company and was given a relieving letter which states that for the notice period, I have to pay Rs. XYZ amount. I am not ready to pay such an amount. Can the company withhold my PF? How do I withdraw the PF amount?

In India, as per the guidelines of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), an employer cannot withhold an employee's PF amount for notice period recovery or any other dues. The PF amount is solely for the benefit of the employee and should not be used for any other purpose by the employer. To withdraw your PF amount, follow these steps:

1. Fill out the PF withdrawal form available on the EPFO portal or at the nearest EPFO office.
2. Ensure all details are correctly filled in the form, including your PF account number, personal details, and reason for withdrawal.
3. Submit the form along with any required documents, such as a copy of your PAN card, Aadhar card, and bank details.
4. Once the form is submitted, the EPFO will process your withdrawal request, and the amount will be transferred to your provided bank account.
5. You can track the status of your PF withdrawal online through the EPFO portal using your UAN (Universal Account Number).

If you face any issues with the withdrawal process or if your employer attempts to withhold your PF amount unlawfully, you can file a complaint with the EPFO for resolution.
