Dear All,

If an employee works on 15th August, which is a National holiday in India, how many days of salary should be paid to him?

In the second condition, if 15th August falls on a Saturday, on which the employee also has a weekly off, how many days should be compensated to him?

Payments against compensation should be as per India Labour Law.

Hi Amar,

If an employee works on 15th August, he should be paid for 2 days' salary for that day.

If an employee has a weekly off on 15th August but works on that day, he should be paid for 2 days' salary for the day of work.

Hi,

When an employee works on any given holiday, it typically amounts to overtime work. Referring to the overtime (OT) wages as specified in the Factories Act under Section 59, you will find that the OT wages are required to be paid at twice the ordinary rate of wages. By studying the Factories Act, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of everything related to your question.
