Please, could somebody suggest me about compensatory leave?

1. What is compensatory leave?
2. How can it be earned?
3. How can it be availed?
4. What is the time limit for the lapse of compensatory leave?

Hi Ritu,

Compensatory Leave shall be applicable in case if any employee works on a weekly off or on any other holiday approved by the state as well as the Central Government Holiday list. Against that particular day, the employee can take Compensatory Leave. Regarding the time limit, it totally depends on the policy of the company. For more details, please refer to the Shops & Establishment Act, 1948, or The Factory Act, 1948 (as applicable to your organization) and also refer to The Weekly Holiday Act, 1942.

Please note, refer to the above acts as per your state regulations.
