Dear All HR Aspirants,
Wishing you a very Happy Diwali! I have one question: why are HR jobs not available in the market? It is also observed that most organizations are not maintaining a separate HR department.
Best of luck,

Hi Please note that the overall job market has slowed down and hence you will find fewer HR jobs. It is a cycle and hence we have to wait till the market improves.

Hi,
Your MBA should help you secure a job in HR. I believe ICFAI isn't currently guaranteeing any job placements. Given the current situation, it's not hard to imagine. My advice for an upcoming HR professional is to "learn on the job." That's where most of the learning takes place. The practice of HR varies across different organizations. So, don't worry about anything; focus on mastering the basics and being clear in your thoughts, and you will succeed.

Very true. With the global economy faltering, the impact on HR jobs is more pronounced. This is due to the fact that the ratio of employees to HR personnel is consistently skewed towards the lower end, exacerbating the situation further.

All responses are self-explanatory of the facts. It's good everyone knows the job market reality. Although it's sad, but this is a fact. We have no option but to wait until the job market and economy improve. In the meantime, young graduates can excel by gaining experience and expertise in their field to prepare for better prospects and to deal with all situations.
Use this as a cushion time for enhancing expertise.

This is very true. I understand the economic challenges, but at the same time, it is disappointing to note that some organizations do not have a separate HR department in today's fast-paced environment. 😞

Hi,
Mostly, some companies are saving money within the HR Department, but those companies are reputed as they have separate HR, Admin, and Accounts departments. This is true because LALA Company does not follow the rules and regulations, so they end up paying some money to the Labor Department. As a result, labor/government employees do not come forward to work with these companies.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

HR is desktop job.1 HR manager for 100 or more people. They are multitasking. 1 HR manager can perform recruitment , compensation mamanagment at same time. Therefore less jobs.

The market is plummeting, which is quite evident that it affects every section of the group, job being one of them. The recent deluge of retrenchment in Jet Airways narrates the whole episode clearly. When the market was at 21k, the biggest challenge for HR was to hire and retain the best talent. However, the current position of the economy has provided some relief to the HR department in the form of low attrition.

Hi,
The HR department is generally very small compared to other departments in any organization. For example, a mid-sized organization will have only 3 - 4 HR personnel to handle all the work. So, the number of jobs in the HR area is already very low compared to other jobs like software professionals, etc.
Moreover, whenever a vacancy arises, it generally gets filled by employee referrals or headhunting. Organizations also prefer this as they don't have to invest much time in searching for profiles.
You must have noticed that normally HR professionals don't receive calls for interviews even after putting their profiles on all job portals. In finding HR jobs, references come out on top. So, keep communicating with everyone and expand your network.

Dear Jameel,
On the contrary, there has probably been no better time to be in HR in India than today, despite the claims of a recession. I think this slowdown is an opportunity for HR professionals to really look at realigning their strategies. Agreed, freshers may find it tough for a while, but then this is not just about HR - freshers in all fields will have it a little tough for a bit, so just hang on!
For your reference, I have attached here an interesting article by Arthur Carmazzi on how we can bring out the best in people during these times. This article has been taken from The Human Factor, India's first HR magazine.
