Hi Suma,
Please be informed that there is no policy in any corporate that I have ever come across which suggests that a bonus be paid to ex-employees.
Please confirm if this is your query or if you are talking about a delay in paying bonuses.

Dear Suma,
As per the Payment of Bonus Act, an employee is entitled to a bonus for the period of service he has rendered. If you come under the purview of the Payment of Bonus Act, i.e., if your salary is less than Rs 10,000, then you can claim a bonus. In other cases, you have to refer to the policy of your company regarding the payment of a bonus.

Hi Suma,
I did not intend to be obnoxious there. But please note the cases where ex-employees are considered for bonuses; however, it has to be the current year:
A) Termination of employment due to pregnancy or disablement, when the said termination is mutually agreed.
B) In case of takeovers, ex-employees who have worked for more than six months of the calendar year are sometimes eligible for bonuses if mentioned in the partnership agreement.
Anyways, I find no harm in verifying the fact of what your colleagues have mentioned. More money is never bad.
