Hi,
In my opinion both are same. Although there is no universal rule. Some companies give executive designation while some give officer designation but dont think that there is any company who has got both the designations in force. If there is any such company kindly let me know.

In their organisation structures different companies define positions, So in one Company for HR dept they may has Jr. HR Officer , Sr. HR Officer,
while some may keep it as Jr. HR Executive,,, Sr. Hr Executive,
The different designations for HR Executive is
HR Officer
Officer - HR
HR Associate
Executive - HR
Business HR Executive
The functions may differ as per company to company..
some company may be so big,, that instead of having one HR Officer or the thing is all above designations in short are of generalist nature,,, so they may keep function wise as
Executive training, Executive Administration Executive - Recruitments, Executive - Compensation , Executive Statuory Compliance and so on.....

Basically there is no differences between HR Officer and HR Executive. It depends on how the management want to set up the structure of the organization.
The structure can be---------
Jr. Officer
Officer
Sr. Officer
Asst. Manager
Deputy Manager
Manager
and so on
or May be
Jr. Executive
Executive
Sr. Executive
Asst. Manager
Deputy Manager
Manager
Or may be
Officer-G1
Officer-G2
Officer-G3
Sr. Officer
Executive
Sr. Executive
Manager
Like the above, there may several cobination based on the particular company's need.

Hi Bharat,
Terms are different in different organizations. No Hard and fast rules.
Normally the term HR executive used for the most junior ranked employee.
Both HR Executive and HR Officers are same to some extent.
Officer can be an executive and executive could be an officer.

hai ths s sathiyan,
i thk there wont be a big different between the both... bcoz the hr exe. should be the deputy whn the absence of hr officer... so he is like getting qualified with the earnig of experience to become a HR officer...

Hi!
It depends upon company to company. In our gradation policy, botom to top :
1. HR Asst. 2. HR Executive 3. Jr. HR Officer 4. Sr. HR Officer
5. Asst. Manager-HR 6. Manager-HR 7. Sr. Manager - HR
8. GM - HR

Thanks Guys!
For all your opinions
I have heard that in most of the manufacturing companies, they are having designations like HR officer rather than HR Executive. Can anyone throw some light on this?
One more thing i am about to get promotion as a HR Officer , currently i m designated as an assistant HR. Ours is small organizatn around 110 people working here. In this case we are two in HR dept. There are Two designaions at moment Assist. HR & Manager HR. I think that if i insist on HR Executive / HR officer designation i will get it bcoz i presume that heirarchy is not defined yet in case of HR dept.
So what do you suggest keeping in view of Human Resource Management.
