I too cant find anything that explain J....O....I.... But since you could not tell the interviewer what is JOI, you could have asked him....something like, 'I can tell the difference b/w offer letter & joining letter or appointment letter. But, if JOI is not joinng letter or appointment order, could you please tell me what JOI stands for'....This could have saved the situation because uou know what is an offer letter and a joining letter or appointment order (some friends have already explained it above).
Anyway, better luck next time.
