Hello everyone! I have completed my MBA in HR in 2012, worked for a year, and then took a break. Currently, I am not in touch with our field at all. Now, I am eager to restart my career. I am seeking advice on how to gain practical knowledge from online sources as I feel completely lost.

If you have an MBA, then you must have preserved textbooks or study materials from your course. Why not go through these very books that you studied earlier? Since you have read that text before, it will be easy for you to grasp. In contrast, material on web resources is scattered and may not be organized. The exception could be related to labor laws. Changes have taken place in many labor laws, hence you may not rely on those textbooks.

Practical HR Requirements

The actual requirements from HR are different from what you learned in your MBA. Your employers could expect you to be thorough with recruitment, payroll processing, and even statutory returns. This practical knowledge is not taught in an MBA. Notwithstanding this shortcoming, you can make a beginning now. Other things will follow.

Utilizing Forum Discussions

You may go through the discussions on this forum itself. Every day, even if you spend an hour reading various queries, it will give you a lot of practical knowledge.

All the best!

I found this is the right platform to ask for suitable guidance to grow in HR. I have a few months of experience in HR Recruitment and didn't find it interesting. I always wanted to work as an HR Generalist, in Training, Compensation, or in a Performance Team. So, I am in search of a job in Bangalore where I can utilize my innate skills and pursue work that interests me, providing mutual growth.

If anybody in the group can guide me to find suitable job opportunities or how I can enter my area of interest, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. Awaiting an immediate response from all.
