Dear Fellow Members,
I wanted to check if making Group Mediclaim Policy mandatory was illegal in any way?
Of course, for exclusion, employee can submit the personal policy proof but if the employee does not have anything then can we force it?
The fact is, last year, we were very lenient with this policy and hence, this year's premium is doubled! So in order to have maximum participation and lower claim ratio, can we make it compulsory for all employees?
Please suggest

Hi
Normally this a benefit give by a employer to the employees, there is no part of making complusion.
and also if your making more people into the policy the cliam will go high, so that your premium will also go high.

in middle east its a part of getting your work permit
all expenses paid including OPDs...
they are 3-4 different categories though...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
in india,
i have introduced group medical insurance for part time/ contractor/ homeworkers under ETI..
the benefits are immense Vs standalone policies esp related to coverage of pre existing diseases/ maternity/ old parents etc from day one...
there is even a scheme for disadvantaged artisans in the handicraft category wherein entire family gets covered and the workers contribution was quite low 200pa..
Heard of Self employed women association ?
they too introduced a medical insurance/ loan etc for their members harnessing the power of groups...
