\I am looking for job change in HR domain. I have 5years experience of HR generalist profile with manufacturing MNC. I was keep trying but not getting any good response. I have been sending separate application for each position and doing follow up as well. But my resume not short listed at all. I requested to all members please help me to understand the market situation and current recruitment process as well. I observed most of the time recruiters even open the mails and over the phone they just bluntly say "will check & come back to you" as well.

Dear Pooja,

I know this situation is overwhelming and often builds up anxiety. Nevertheless, there are greener pastures ahead! So relax, you going to be ok.

Answer me few things, Are you applying jobs within manufacturing units only? Which city are you currently working in and where are you applying for jobs? Can you brief me what all activities you have worked in the generalist profile?

Market situation is not all that great at the moment and in HR domain the cut-throat competition makes the situation even worse. There are so many...so many I repeat ,number of applications recruiter gets that often further shortlisting of relevant candidates are done on the basis of experience, CTC expected, stability and even at times proximity to the work place.

I suggest, you keep applying the way you have been till now, who knows you might land up in a lucrative offer. Apart from this, are you ready to consider changing the industry? (in case if you are too desperate to change) are you applying to jobs directly on the job portals / to the hiring managers of the company or have you considered sharing your CV with the consultants also. Generally they might have something better for you. Try and choose consultants who specialize in recruitments in the industry you are seeking. Are you using LinkedIn to the best? Keep sharing your CV with the companies.

Also do a research on whether the way you have build up your resume is professional enough and gives a proper window to your job responsibilities, again research where in your profile are you lacking pertaining to the industry you are serving. Are you also considering specialization in certain area in HR, this is because companies are hiring HR Business partners who can work strategically in one area. For eg PMS, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Training & Development etc. In case you are called for interviews, go attend it, it could help you understand the current scenario a lot.

Good luck!
