Salary & perks are immaterial when it comes to determine an employee is a WORKMAN or NOT. If the salary mentioned in the ID is taken into consideration then no one would come within the definition of workman.

Hi, Air India has a pilots union. There is not much of a difference between the salaries of the pilots of the two airlines. So there is no such thing that they cannot form an union

thx mr.kutty & mr.singh who clarified my doubt that PILOTS r WORKMAN under ID and my friend also refers to our apex court judgement. I request my friend to Post the citiation to see the detailed text of the apex court judgement.

now for see whether individual is workmen or not ,salary is not criteria.it is nature of duties which decides whether individual is workmen.see supreme court has given judgement in which pilot of indian airlines was given status of workmen who drawxs salary in lacs per month.

Is Telecom Field Drive Test Engineer lies in WORKMEN category ? he has no supervisory , administrative, salary around 25000 lumsum ( including all allowances ), doing his own work by his hands in thhe field and not supervise any team, Hes doing his work individually....
