Hi.. i'm Ishvinder.. i want sum advice abt my career..
i alwayz had interest in computers n m gud with it.. i'm the techy type.. i cudnt do Comp. Engineering cuz i had commerce in 10+2.. so i did BCA.. then my parents told me to do a PG course which gets me a gud job..
at that time all i can see was MCA or MBA.. bt after BCA i found that i'm not interested in software field or programming & m bad with mathematics.. so i thought MBA wud be better as it was only 2 yrs n is mostly theory which wud be easy..

i joined for MBA n deposited 1st yr fees.. 75,000 rs (Total is 150,000 2 yrs).. bt after a month i realized that it was a totally different world n i belong to computers only.. i handled sum computer related problems in college.. then even classmates n teachers said why i did MBA.. i tried to leave bt they said fee will not be refunded.. a frnd told me to do MBA in IT then.. college gives dual specialisation bt only in Mktg, Finance & HR..

my 2nd sem exams are goin on.. n m very confused whether i shud deposit another 75000 for 2nd year n continue the course.. or leave the course right now which will waste my 1 year n fees..

i'm intrstd in comupters, networking etc.. want to be comp or network engr, administrator or at least do a job where i get to sit on a computer..

A frnd told me to do courses like CCNA MCSE etc

i'm 22 yrs old already
what shud i do.. ???

See dude , sitting near computer will not give u money. Doing that you are wasting your time and parents money.
Realise your strengths and work on your weakness. You from commerce background and you are doing MBA, and have skills in computers.
See yourself as a techno commercial person.
So join some IT or telecom company and work on Sales field.
You will be able to utilize both your education and computer knowledge together.
Most of the HR recruiters dont know that some IT sales person can do IT admin work also when required ( software installation, troubleshooting, Network flow design, system complaint etc).
In some IT companies youwill find Branch manager is handling the entire branch alone. From admin to IT to Sales work doing single handly. eg - antivirus companies in India.
You can learn Computers practically on job then doing course

Hey Ishvinder

Just chill! relax..Don't be so confused. I've understood your situation. Even am doing my PGDM (done with first year). Seems like you made decision of doing mba not out of interest but rather in am eliminating manner that other courses are not suitable or any other reason. I think you should go ahead with your course since you've already done with 1st year. Stay with the course and at the end of this academic year you would fit into a good job too. During your placements try getting into an IT based company so that if there is any chance you can even shift into your choice of desire within the same company. Meanwhile try learning out some advanced courses from certified institutes which would add value to your IT knowledge. So that you would have a better edge if you wish to shift.

And coming to the point that you feel you are at an unsuitable place (mba) hailing from a computer background in graduation, don't forget you are a commerce student in 10+2. It's the same level for most of the mba opting guys unless and until you are from bba or bbm. I'm saying this 'coz I am a science graduate with biology in +12 level too and it's okay to continue it this way.

hope this helps you find a solution and reduce the turmoil in your head.

Thanks to all of u for ur suggestions.. but even if i continue my MBA.. m still confused with the streams.. as there's no IT here.. only mktg, finance n HR
again confused
Marketing - its very easy to study n intrsting bt ppl say u hav to run on streets in mktg jobs n i want to sit in office
Finance - m bad with mathematics.. i only like simple calculations + - i hate things like 'simplex method, algebra stuff.. thats y i didnt take nonmedical in 12th..
HR (its ok.. bt sum say it has less scope n less salary n females are prefered.. )
i hav to take Major n minor.. wat to do..??

Hello !
Marketing as a career would almost start with the sales job but as one of my professors said...it's the easiest and interesting subject when you learn in the class but all the marketing tactics can't be taught in the class rooms. Some of them have to be learnt practically so in the initial days of your career, it's must requirement for a marketing job. This stage will not lat for a long duration 'coz an MBA graduate will definitely climb the ladder very quick.
And HR is not always a female preferred job. There are Male HR's too. This is also no less responsible or an easy job. This is equally tough as any other department jobs except for the reason that it doesn't involve much of roaming or field activities.
I would suggest you to take Marketing as major and HR as minor, as I found your interest lies there among the given choice.
But the final decision is yours. Hope you pick the best options available.

See initially there is struggle in each & every job. In finance you will not get core finance job, In HR you will get a job to conduct interview, screening of resume etc etc which is again a very boring work & In marketing you have to move in Field.
what you should select totally depend on you we only can suggest but you will opt what you want to opt because you know yourself best, you know your skills , your area of interest.
Marketing & HR is very easy to learn & understand as compare to finance.
understand your area of interest because whole life you have to move in same field. May be initially you didn't get a good job but after some experience you will definitely find a good job.
so just think in which field you should go because you are the best judge of yourself.

hey dear,
jindgi me kabhi bhi koi aisa kaam nahi karna chahiye jo aapko achha na lage aur ek achha insan vo hota hai jo kisi bhi field me apna carrier bana leta hai so never think about it that i have done this n this. just start your carrier and grow up. kyunki jitna sonchoge utna hi apne goel se peeche rah jaoge. so start it now.
