Hello,
Honest is the best policy dear....just remember it for a lifetime!!
Never start up anything with the note of a lie or fake as it will haunt you for your whole career!!!
Now the market is good and technical people get the digits which they ask for so dont get disheartened, I am sure you will get something which will be according to your expectations!
Moreover now a days companies do the background check so there are chances of you getting sacked for the fake documents!!!!!
If you feel that the company who is offering you currently is not satisfactory then you can ask them to give you the assurance of hiking up your salary after probation or 1 year as per your performance and demand!

Dear Samco,
I strongly agree with other members, one should be honest enough and back ground verification is something which is very much on these days. So don't fake any docs.
Every organisation has a budget for a particular profile , how much you absorb from that budget would be dependent on your tech. skills and the need of the organisation, current salary will only act as negotiating instrument in terms of relative hike.
In case you join a big organisation or organisation where HR policies and strategies are nicely placed, they will maintain the internal parity of the organisation, so you will surely get what you deserve. And even after joining your performance will speak for you, there are chances that the employee is being given a fast tracker performance appraisal.
So be honest and beleive in your skill. ALL THE BEST.

Dear Samco,

Greetings!!!!

It doesn't matter if you are from A+ Tier institute or from an Ivy league. The moment you fake your salary details, you are falling in the same line with people who are classified as offenders. I am surprised because if an A+ lister thinks like that , what would be the plight of people who are from lesser known schools.

My suggestion would be that you should think through your career plans. If you are so desperate about getting salary hike, you can join a smaller organisation , probably a start up, who are always looking for such people. Normally A listers avoid such companies because they want brand names with good salary. Or, you are already with a decent company & you can stay there for some more time, waiting for the right opportunity with right salary. You can also upskill ( relevant to your core area) yourself that may give you a salary hike.

Whatever be your plan, in my opinion, you should never fake your salary detail because the band that you are targeting always comes with a background check. Once you commit this mistake, it will never leave you, right through your career. And mark my words, background verification companies are full of smart guys, and they are almost certain to find your details.
