I have been working from 1991 to 2022 in a private industry. From 1991 to 2006, I worked in one organization but at different locations. I did not have any UAN until that time. I turned 58 years old in 2020. When I applied for a pension in 2021, I discovered that my services were only considered from 2006 onwards. I do not have a UAN for the previous organization, and EPFO is insisting on an online transfer. Due to this, I am unable to apply for a pension as well. Kindly advise.

Understanding the Situation
It seems that there has been a discrepancy in the calculation of your pensionable service period by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) due to the lack of continuity in your service records from 1991 to 2006. This issue has arisen as a result of not having a Universal Account Number (UAN) during your employment at the previous organization.

Steps to Resolve the Issue
Here are some practical steps you can take to address this situation and ensure that your complete service period is considered for pension calculation:

- [Icon] Contact EPFO Pune: Reach out to the EPFO office in Pune, India, where you are currently located. Explain your situation and request guidance on how to proceed with the pension application considering your entire service history.

- [Icon] Request Manual Transfer: Since you do not have a UAN for your previous organization, request the EPFO officials in Pune to facilitate a manual transfer of your service details from 1991 to 2006 to your current UAN. This manual transfer process can help ensure that all your years of service are accounted for accurately.

- [Icon] Submit Necessary Documents: Prepare any documentation related to your employment from 1991 to 2006, such as old payslips, appointment letters, or any other relevant records that can support your claim of continuous service during that period. Submit these documents as per the instructions provided by EPFO Pune.

- [Icon] Follow Up Regularly: Stay in touch with the EPFO officials in Pune to track the progress of your service transfer request. Regular follow-ups can help expedite the process and ensure that your pension application is processed without further delays.

Seeking Legal Assistance
If you encounter any difficulties or face resistance in getting your complete service period recognized for pension calculation, consider seeking legal advice from a labor law expert in India. They can provide you with specific guidance on your rights and options under the relevant labor laws and policies.

By following these steps and seeking appropriate assistance, you can work towards resolving the issue of incomplete service continuity in your EPFO records and proceed with your pension application effectively.
