Hi, I was relieved from company A and joined company B one month ago, but I did not like the work culture at company A. I have secured another job at company C, with the joining date set for December 23rd (which cannot be extended). Today is December 21st. Company B requires a 15-day notice period during probation. If I abscond, I am unsure if I will receive my December salary from company B (which I need to pay my bills). Can I join company C on the 23rd and still receive a salary from company B? Would this pose an issue as it may be considered dual employment for one week? I do not need a relieving letter from company B for company C.

Hi,

I was relieved from company A and joined company B a month ago, but I did not like the work culture there. I have been offered another job at company C, with the joining date set for December 23rd. Today is December 21st.

Company B has a notice period of 15 days during probation. If I abscond, I am unsure if I will receive my December salary from company B, which is essential for me to pay my bills. Can I start working at company C on the 23rd and still receive my salary from company B for the month of December? Would this be problematic as it could be seen as dual employment for a week? I plan to serve the 15-day notice period at company B while starting my new job at company C.

I do not need a relieving letter from company B for company C.

Dear Kiran,

Whether you require a relieving letter from Company B or not, for whatever reason, it is a breach of the exit clause of your contract of employment to leave the job without notice and without complying with the notice conditions. I believe you are well aware of this legal position. If, after some time, you find that you don't like the job in Company C either, what will you do? If, by chance, you are able to secure a position in a dream company of your choice, your candidacy may be rejected due to your past abandonment. Switching jobs is a personal choice, especially if you happen to be highly employable. Employability is not just about academic qualifications, experience, and efficiency; it also involves aspects such as honoring the terms of the contract of employment and maintaining consistency in tenure.

At some point, job-hoppers may find themselves without employment. Ultimately, when it comes to matters of employment, nobody can provide better advice than yourself.
