The layoff is a temporary phenomenon, and the laid-off employees have the right to be called back to employment when the layoff is lifted. They are entitled to layoff compensation. The period of layoff is included as a period of continuous service for gratuity purposes.

During the layoff period, the employer-employee relationship continues with the laid-off employee, and they are entitled to all the benefits and services applicable to other employees.
