Dear Seniors,

I am working as an HR and Admin in my current company where nearly 25 employees are employed. We have initiated the process for establishing PF and ESI. However, there is a lack of proper HR policy in place. I kindly request to receive an HR policy that would be suitable for a small-sized company.

Determining the Appropriate Act for Your Industry

What is the nature of your industry? We need to know this to determine whether you are registered under the Factories Act or the Shops and Establishment Act. Please refer to the applicable act to design the leave policy. You may provide a greater number of leave days but not fewer than specified in the act.

Key Definitions to Include in the Leave Policy

While designing the policy, please include definitions for "Leave," "Closed Holiday," and "Weekly Off." Employees often use these terms interchangeably out of ignorance, but it is incorrect to do so. Additionally, please clarify the definitions of "Leave Without Pay" (LWP) and "Absence."

Leave Application Process

In the policy, include the entire process for the movement of leave applications. Clearly specify who the approving authority is for each employee.
