I am working in a company, but I did not receive the confirmation letter. I have only received the appointment letter and promotion letter. If I want to resign, how many days' notice period should be given? In the appointment letter, they mentioned that I would be on probation for 6 months, after which they would provide the confirmation letter. However, until now, I have not received it.

You haven't mentioned since when you have been working here and in what capacity. You mentioned that you got your Promotion Letter—when did you receive it? Please provide the full and complete details for the members to suggest practical solutions.

All the best.

Probation and Confirmation of Employment

Probation and confirmation of employment are different from resignation and notice period but are connected to each other. Generally, no appointment/employment letter can be issued or fulfill its purpose without these conditions. Therefore, I would suggest you reread your appointment letter to find the notice period clause.

After your probation period, when you were supposed to receive your confirmation letter, you should have inquired about it if you realized they had not provided it. How many times have you attempted to obtain your confirmation letter?

In general terms, there is usually a maximum notice period of 3 months based on organizational policies that would be applicable if you plan to resign. However, it would be best if you try to speak with your HR personnel directly regarding your confirmation letter and notice period details.

Thank you for your email. I joined the company in April 2012. Here are some points I would like to discuss:

1. I have received a written appointment letter.
2. Regarding confirmation: It is clearly stated that there is a six-month probation period, and after receiving the confirmation letter, you will be confirmed.
3. Regarding resignation, there is no information provided, only about termination.
4. I received a promotion letter in April 2013.
5. Regarding confirmation, I have spoken to HR multiple times, but all I get is a response of "we will get back."

Now, kindly advise me on what steps to take next.

Thank you.
