Dear Friend, attendence register is statutory record. maintain that register is compulsory...........................
Hi,
I would like to inform you that maintaining an Attendance Register is compulsory by law. However, you can request permission from the Commissioner to allow us to maintain an Electronic Attendance Register. If they grant permission for the same, then you can proceed to maintain the Electronic Attendance Register.
Regards,
Yogesh.

Dear Sujith,
To maintain attendance register is a statutory requirement. To have an electronic attendance register, you will have to take permission from the State Labour Commissioner/Chief Inspector of Factories.

Friends,
Attendance register is a muster roll, and it is mandatory as per the Factories Act of 1948. It is referred to as Form 22. You may or may not refer to it while preparing the salary sheet, but as a mandatory register, you are required to maintain it. If a Factory Inspector is visiting, he will first inspect the same register. :-D

Hi all,
I sign my attendance register when I am in the office. I mostly travel and sign it later when I come back to the office. Is there any problem? What implications will it have during an inspection? Is this deviation or exception allowed under the Bombay Shops and Establishment Law? If yes, please quote the relevant section. It's very important as I have had a couple of arguments with my garrulous HR manager.
