Dear Experts,

Our company is an auto components manufacturing company with around 150 employees, and we need to establish a leave policy. After reviewing the Factories Act, we found that it only addresses earned leave, which grants 1 day leave for every 20 days worked. The Factories Act does not mention Casual Leave (CL) or Sick Leave (SL). We would appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Dear Sreekumar.N,

It is correct that the Factories Act, 1948 provides us with the provisions of annual leave with wages in Chapter VIII of this Act, while CL & SL are allowed under the State Industrial Establishment (National & Festival and Casual & Sick Leaves) Act. Therefore, go through this Act for these leaves. After going through these minimum statutory leaves, you may go through the leave policies as provided in different threads and prepare this as per your requirement.
